Cecil Coworking is designed for those seeking flexible, shared office solutions — for both business success and job satisfaction. With us, service is at the heart of everything we do, and for us, service primarily means getting to know our members and their specific needs and wishes. In this way, we can create a unique solution for every company.
In addition to our personal service, it is our unbeatable location, our eye for design and interiors, and above all, our members who shape the atmosphere. Cecil is a place where new ideas are born, and networks are woven together. Together, we build a positive culture where people and companies thrive, grow, and reach their full potential.
The Bibliotekstan location accommodates 300 members across two floors. It offers a large number of private offices, as well as excellent opportunities to connect and network in our shared spaces — the bistro, lounge, kitchens, and the exquisite atrium, which forms the heart of the premises.
After the summer of 2026, Cecil will open its second location in Kv Johanna in Gothenburg.
In 2021, the property owner Hufvudstaden opened the first Cecil Coworking in Bibliotekstan, Stockholm. The name itself is rooted in the history of Bibliotekstan. More than a century ago, Cecil was already a well-known meeting place at Biblioteksgatan 5 in Stockholm — then a restaurant and nightclub renowned for its exceptional hospitality. Hufvudstaden’s founder, Ivar Kreuger, quickly made Cecil his private venue for entertaining guests, and it was in Cecil’s kitchen that maître d’hôtel Julius Carlsson created his signature dish: the Wallenbergare. In Stockholm, we serve Wallenbergare as a tribute to Julius.
Over time, Cecil evolved into a vibrant nightclub where Stockholm socialites, film stars, and royalty gathered to listen to jazz, enjoy cocktails, and dance the night away.
With the same sense of style, innovation, and warm hospitality, today’s Cecil offers elegant and flexible workspaces of the highest standard.
Bibliotekstan, located between Stureplan and Norrmalmstorg in central Stockholm, has a rich history dating back to 1885, when Biblioteksgatan was given its name. Ever since, the area has been a vibrant hub for shopping, culture, and social gatherings.
During the 20th century, the neighbourhood became known for iconic destinations such as Restaurant Cecil, and it has also been the setting for several significant moments in Stockholm’s history — including Ingmar Bergman premieres at Röda Kvarn, the Norrmalmstorg hostage drama, and the denim craze at Gul & Blå in the historic Birger Jarlspassagen.
When Cecil opens its doors in the fully renovated Kvarteret Johanna in the heart of Gothenburg, it does so with the very same ambitions as in Bibliotekstan. And it happens in a place that, for more than 150 years, was shaped by hospitality, elegance, entrepreneurship, culture, and entertainment. It was here, on Södra Hamngatan, that the legendary Grand Hotel Haglund once stood — a vibrant meeting place for entrepreneurs, artists, merchants, and bohemians. Local talents and international icons, magnates and patrons gathered here, helping Gothenburg’s business and cultural life flourish.
Now, we are carrying this tradition into a new era through a dynamic and inspiring meeting and workplace environment. This is where Cecil meets Johanna — bringing new energy and life to the heart of the city.
